As an alien in the ‘new world’ of Australia I look to use this project as a reflection of my own internal psyche. Exploring the land around me I see foreign and alien species of flora and fauna alongside a very unfamiliar relief to the land. As I learn more about the dark past of this countries infiltrators, I want to explore a way to question reality: what would this land resemble if we had never disturbed it?
Naturally drawn to the landscape I intend this to be my main focus within the project. Myself as the invader in this new land looking to make sense of my surroundings, I aim to strip back the human footprint as an abstraction of our everyday. The end result is a series of otherworldly scenes created in the twilight hours using black and white photography. The images question heritage and serve as both a distillation and an abstraction of the Australian landscape.
